Heather the Musical Auditions

FORMAT

  • The audition will be held in person in two locations (Dundas and Oakville, Ontario).
  • Booked time slots are at 10-minute intervals.
  • See the next section for audition dates.

ROLES

All roles will be required to attend a dance call during callbacks. This will be a dance-heavy version of this show. All performers must be between the ages of 18 and up.

Heather Chandler  Teenager Mezzo-Soprano The sharp-tongued leader of the Heathers and Queen of Westerberg High
Heather Duke Teenager Mezzo-Soprano  The power-hungry and insecure right-hand to Chandler, eager to take Chandler's throne
Heather McNamara Teenager Soprano  The bubbly cheerleader hiding deep insecurity beneath her sunny exterior
Martha Dunstock Teenager Mezzo-Soprano Veronica's kind-hearted childhood best friend, who is bullied for her appearance.
Ram Sweeney  Teenager Baritone Crude, toxic male characteristics, and clueless.
Kurt Kelly Teenager Tenor Ram’s equally dimwitted best friend, driven by ego and hormones.
Ms. Fleming Adult Soprano The hippy high school teacher who tries way too hard to connect with her students.

Ensemble Adults:

Adults   We are seeking skilled actors and singers with comic timing and a mature energy. 
Ensemble Teenagers Teenagers   We are seeking folks who are skilled dancers and singers who can portray peppy and nerdy teenagers to join our ensemble. 

We welcome and encourage all performers to audition.

PREPARATION

  • 32 bars of a contemporary musical theatre or pop/rock song (in the style of the show OR from the musical HEATHERS.
  • A short monologue of your choice highlighting your ability to portray a comic character authentically.
  • You will need to provide your backtrack, which we can play via Bluetooth speakers from your device.

REHEARSALS / AVAILABILITY

  • All rehearsals will take place at St. Paul's United Church in Dundas, beginning September 3rd.
    • Sundays 1:00 pm - 7:00 pm
    • Wednesdays 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm
  • Not all actors will be called to all rehearsals.  Start times may also vary.
  • Actors are responsible for providing accurate availability at the time of their audition to review potential scheduling conflicts or unavailability
  • If cast, actors are expected to prepare during the summer months.

CALLBACKS

  • Dance auditions will be conducted during callbacks on Sunday, July 20, 2025.  Attendance at callbacks is mandatory, so make sure you are available if invited.

AFTER THE AUDITION

  • If you are awarded a role, you will be required to sign a release form and submit your participation fee.
